Erector Set History

Erector Construction Toys have been around since 1913 when A.C. Gilbert introduced his first Erector Set at the Toy Fair in New York. That very first set consisted of girders, gears and sprockets and built multiple models from one set.

Today the same principles hold true and Erector has improved upon the original design by adding flexible metal pieces to Erector Design sets, newly shaped parts and accessories and even a radio control vehicle that operates by remote.

In 2005 Erector presents two new Multi Model sets that expand upon the original A.C. Gilbert invention. But the innovation doesn't stop there. A new family of Erector products will be launched in 2005 that reduces the time to build and adds more features for enhanced play. Speed Play features three new sets that allow the builder to quickly assemble the model, complete with new tools and parts. A power tool is added which then becomes the motor of the model. And finally, one of the sets provides electronic features for movement and sound as well as a USB connection and special website to download additional features for the model.
